For the first time in over 10 years, a new animated \u201cX-Men<\/a>\u201d show has arrived.<\/p>\n

The first trailer for Disney+\u2019s \u201cX-Men \u201997\u201d is here, and it continues the story from the classic \u201990s cartoon, \u201cX-Men: The Animated Series.\u201d It begins streaming on Disney+ on March 20.<\/p>\n

The beloved \u201cX-Men: The Animated Series\u201d ran from 1992-1997 for five seasons. \u201cX-Men \u201997\u201d functions as essentially a sixth season for the show, picking up after the 1997 series finale, \u201cGraduation Day,\u201d in which Prof. Charles Xavier dies. The new trailer shows X-Men members Cyclops, Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop and more pick up the pieces after Prof. X perishes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to say vigilant, the professor entrusted us with his dream,\u201d Cyclops says to his team, as footage shows anti-mutant protests in the streets and a casket containing Prof. X lowered into the ground. The team battles giant Sentinel robots, and the final show reveals that the evil Magneto has taken control of everything Prof. X built by obtaining his last will and testament.<\/p>\n

The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.<\/p>\n

\u201cX-Men: The Animated Series\u201d was one of the first major Marvel<\/a> shows, and it catapulted the X-Men into mainstream popularity. After it ended, \u201cX-Men: Evolution\u201d reimagined the team as teens and ran from 2000-03, followed by the short-lived series \u201cWolverine and the X-Men\u201d in 2009. Two Japanese anime series aired in 2011, but after that the X-Men disappeared on TV. After Disney acquired Fox, it paved the way for the X-Men to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Along with \u201cDeadpool and Wolverine\u201d hitting theaters this summer, it\u2019ll be a huge year for X-Men in the MCU.<\/p>\n

Beau DeMayo serves as head writer of \u201cX-Men \u201997.\u201d Episodes are directed by Jake Castorena, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura. Featuring music by The Newton Brothers, the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D\u2019Esposito, Victoria Alonso and DeMayo.<\/p>\n
