Magnolia Pictures International, the global sales arm of the leading U.S. distribution company, is rebranding to Magnify as it plans to invest in more projects at earlier stages.<\/p>\n

The sales arm has handled international sales on a number of award-winning indie movies, including \u201cTangerine,\u201d \u201cSwan Song\u201d and recent Sundance breakouts, \u201cLittle Richard: I Am Everything\u201d and \u201cKokomo City.\u201d Magnify\u2019s extensive sales library includes \u201cWe Own The Night,\u201d \u201cGood Night, and Good Luck,\u201d \u201cHumpday,\u201d \u201cThe Wolfpack,\u201d and \u201cTwo Lovers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the rebranded label, Magnify will keep handling worldwide rights on about 12 titles a year and will be aiming to expand its role on the financing of projects, boarding them at earlier stage. The editorial line of the banner will also remain focused on director-driven titles, horror, thrillers, drama, documentaries, and international feature films.<\/p>\n

As part of Magnify\u2019s growth strategy, industry veteran Lorna Lee Torres, now based in Madrid, has been upped to SVP of global sales; while Austin Kennedy has been promoted to director of global sales after a year in the role. Lita Robinson, previously international sales coordinator, will move to manager of global sales, focusing on Magnify\u2019s library of more than 100 features from Magnolia Pictures and 2929 Productions.<\/p>\n

Magnify\u2019s footprint in\u00a0the U.S. and in Europe puts the company in a\u00a0unique position to have a strong global presence. The label\u00a0is planning to attend more WIP and co-producing markets as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cMagnolia Pictures has been a champion of independent and international cinema in the U.S. and globally for over 20 years,\u201d said Lee Torres. \u201cWe\u2019ve always had a wide-ranging slate and we\u2019re thrilled to continue to amplify this more than ever under Magnify.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recent Magnify titles include Venice Orizzonti multiple winner \u201cListen,\u201d Nana Mensah\u00b4s indie comedy \u201cQueen of Glory\u201d which was nabbed by Film Movement, and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and Brazil\u2019s official entry \u201cMars One\u201d which sold to Array for North America.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s roster includes \u201cThe Delinquents,\u201d Argentina\u2019s official Oscar entry which played at Cannes\u2019 Un Certain Regard and was picked up by Mubi for multiple territories.<\/p>\n
